Overview

As part of their recent procurement of a Grade II listed three-storey office building located in Birmingham’s historic Jewellery Quarter, Cadence Projects tasked BSNE with the installation of a new lighting scheme consisting of feature, utility, and emergency lighting, with alterations and additions to the existing small power system to create a modern functional workspace for their growing business.

Alongside the need for their own Office space on the third floor the clients longer term plan for the lower floors is to create serviced office units which needed to be accommodated within the new lighting design. The aim was to modernise the building’s electrical infrastructure while preserving its features, ensuring compliance with building regulations and enhancing energy efficiency.

Solutions & Implementation

  • Lighting Scheme: A combination of LED suspended linear fittings, wall-mounted style luminaires, and task lighting were installed to maintain the building’s character while improving illumination levels. Smart lighting controls, such as occupancy sensors and daylight dimming functions, were integrated to enhance energy efficiency.
  • Small Power Installation: New floor socket outlets were strategically placed to serve workspaces, meeting rooms, and common areas, ensuring functionality without compromising the aesthetics of the interiors.
  • Compliance & Testing: The installation was tested and certified to ensure compliance with BS 7671, providing assurance of safety and functionality.
